The Silver Line is the only national free, confidential, 24-hour helpline for vulnerable and isolated older people open every day and night of the year, offering information, friendship, or just a chat whenever needed.
In under 5 years they have received over 2 million calls from older people, some haven't spoken to anyone for days, others simply to say “goodnight”. They may be bereaved, caring for a partner, or housebound due to disability, but all are desperately lonely. The Silver Line has also recruited over 4000 volunteer Silver Line Friends who call an older person every week, which for many is life-changing.
