The Mulberry Bush Organisation

Charity Overview

Established in 1948 the Mulberry Bush School is a unique national resource, which, unlike any other provider offers a highly evolved therapeutic residential programme of integrated care, treatment, education and family support for the most traumatised and vulnerable 5-13 year olds from all over the UK. These children have experienced emotional, physical and sexual abuse and, as a result have already been excluded from several schools and have been disrupting the community in which they live for a long time.

With the great patience, reassurance and skilled care Mulberry Bush provides to these children, they are gradually encouraged to a stage where, possibly for the first time in their lives, they can learn to trust and respect themselves and others, establish ordinary human relationships and begin to learn to lead a normal childhood. The school has a phenomenal success rate - 93% of pupils are re-integrated into a suitable family and 100% go on to an appropriate school.
