Due to a huge demand for its services, in the next five years Place2Be will double its training activity. A donation from ICAP will fund the “ICAP Training Room” in the charity’s new Centre of Excellence, creating an environment where future generations of professionals will be trained to deliver expert mental health support. By 2021, the charity will provide specialist training for 6,000 professionals, in turn supporting more than 380,000 children.

Place2Be is the UK’s leading children’s mental health charity providing in-school counselling to help improve children’s emotional wellbeing. The charity works in 257 schools reaching more than 100,000 children across the UK – helping to build their resilience and ability to cope with life’s difficulties.

Many children Place2Be support are living with complex issues such as domestic violence, divorce, bullying, abuse and addiction. Without early intervention, these issues can become exacerbated in later life at a huge cost to society. Place2Be’s team of professional counsellors help to build a child’s resilience, equipping them with coping mechanisms for life. Already established and working in some of the UK’s most deprived areas, Place2Be’s immediate focus is to broaden its reach and impact.
