Peanut allergy is one of the most prevalent food allergies in children. Prevention is better than cure. The Learning Early About Peanut Allergy (LEAP) study, one of the largest food allergy research projects of its kind in the world, aims to determine the best strategy to prevent peanut allergy in children. ICAP’s donation will fund a Paediatric Allergy Research Team at King’s College London, who will lead pioneering research in the LEAP study.

King’s College London’s Department of Paediatric Allergy has an international reputation for leading research in the prevention of allergies in children. The Department undertakes high quality clinical research into allergy prevention, regularly publishing studies in top international journals, disseminating knowledge and findings across the globe to impact children with allergic disease everywhere.

Working in close partnership with the NHS Children’s Allergy Service at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, the Department of Paediatric Allergy is the largest fully integrated clinical and academic department of its kind in Europe.
