ICAP’s support will fund the ‘ICAP Promote and Prevent’ programme, which raises awareness of HIV, TB and malaria among thousands of young people in Kenya, Zambia and Ghana. Sixty-four football coaches will be trained to deliver specialised drills to share hard hitting messages about these preventable diseases, while additional training manuals and balls branded with health messages will be donated to 300 schools. The programme will run in three countries and reach approximately 200,000 people.

Alive & Kicking is a charity that uses the power of sport to promote health education in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition it’s programmes focus on creating sustainable and ethical employment for adults through the manufacture of sports balls.

Currently employing 130 staff in not-for-profit social enterprises in Kenya, Zambia and Ghana, Alive & Kicking has produced 575,000 hand-stitched, durable sports balls since 2004. Over 120,000 balls printed with simple health messaging have been donated to schools, children’s project and community sports clubs, often as part of health outreach work that uses sport to help combat the spread of preventable, yet deadly, diseases.
