Gidget Foundation Australia provides programs to support the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents. Gidget was the nickname of a vibrant young mother who tragically took her own life while suffering from undiagnosed postnatal depression. She hid her suffering from her loving family and friends. Together, they created Gidget Foundation Australia determined that what happened to Gidget would not happen to others. While most parents struggle at some stage with the relentlessness of caring for a small baby, perinatal depression & anxiety is a recognised mental health condition affecting nearly 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers.
