Charity Overview
Book Aid International has a vision of vibrant libraries, inspired readers and empowered communities. Combined with 60 years’ experience of book provision and support for libraries in developing countries, the charity works mainly in sub-Saharan Africa, through well-established partnerships in 11 countries providing books, training for librarians and teachers, digital resources and library refurbishments to create an environment in which reading for pleasure, study and lifelong learning can flourish. Every year Book Aid International sends up to one million books to libraries in schools, universities, hospitals, prisons, refugee camps, urban slums and remote villages and trains librarians and teachers to work effectively with their communities.
