Charity Overview

The Down's Syndrome Association is the only organisation in the UK dedicated to supporting people with Down's syndrome at every stage of life. It aims to help people with Down’s syndrome to live full and rewarding lives, by:

  • Providing information and support for people with Down’s syndrome, their families and carers, and the professionals who work with them
  • Improving knowledge of the condition
  • Championing the rights of people with Down's syndrome

There are approximately 40,000 people with Down's syndrome currently living in the UK, and the Down's Syndrome Association's services are in constant demand. One of the charity’s largest programmes is WorkFit, which connects employers with work ready candidates with Down's syndrome. There are currently 282 candidates registered with WorkFit and many more on the waiting list.
