Charity Overview

Disabled children and their families are one of societies most marginalised and vulnerable groups and it’s estimated that only 6% receive regular and reliable support.

Challengers are serious about play. For over 35 years Disability Challengers have provided leisure activities to disabled children. Each year they support 1,400 young people aged 5 – 25 throughout the South-East of England.

Disability Challengers do this through their Playschemes, Youthschemes and Young Adult Schemes, enabling disabled young people to access exciting leisure activities after school, at the weekends and during the school holidays – all times when children learn and develop through play. Play during childhood is an important experience and develops skills we rely upon as adults. At Challengers, disabled young people challenge their impairments to reach their full potential.
