ICAP's donation will be used to build a new classroom block for Mhlazane Primary School which is currently overcrowded with an average of 51 students per class. The addition of four classrooms will reduce this to 35 students per class.

Charity Overview

The David Rattray Foundation works in partnership with the Department of Education and local communities to assist in raising the standards of education in rural Umzinyathi District in Kwa-zulu Natal. The charity assesses the schools in the area to establish their requirements. In most instances the schools need more classrooms and a library or basic necessities like electricity. In order to benefit the local community further, local builders who use local labour are commissioned to carry out the construction work.
